It was a very hot summer day. A crow flew for hours looking for water. There was no rain for many weeks, and all the small rivers were dry. The crow was very tired and very thirsty.
Bu juda issiq yoz kuni edi. Qarg‘a soatlab suv izlab uchdi. Ko‘p haftalardan beri yomg‘ir yog‘magan, barcha kichik daryolar qurib qolgan edi. Qarg‘a juda charchagan va juda chanqagan edi.
At last, the crow saw a tall jug in a garden. It flew down and looked inside. There was some water at the bottom, but the jug was tall and narrow. The crow put its head inside, but its beak could not reach the water.
Nihoyat, qarg‘a bog‘da baland ko‘zani ko‘rdi. U pastga uchib tushib, ichiga qaradi. Tubida biroz suv bor edi, lekin ko‘za baland va tor edi. Qarg‘a boshini ichiga tiqdi, lekin tumshug‘i suvga yetmadi.
The crow tried to push the jug over, but it was too heavy. The crow almost gave up. Then it saw some small stones on the ground, and it had an idea.
Qarg‘a ko‘zani ag‘darishga urindi, lekin u juda og‘ir edi. Qarg‘a deyarli taslim bo‘ldi. Keyin yerda mayda toshlarni ko‘rdi va unda bir fikr paydo bo‘ldi.
It picked up a stone and dropped it into the jug. Then another, and another. Slowly, the water came up higher and higher. After fifty stones, the water was at the top. The crow drank and drank. The lesson is simple: when you cannot use your strength, use your head.
U bitta toshni olib, ko‘zaga tashladi. Keyin yana birini, yana birini. Asta-sekin suv tobora yuqoriga ko‘tarildi. Ellikta toshdan keyin suv tepaga chiqdi. Qarg‘a to‘yib-to‘yib ichdi. Saboq oddiy: kuchingni ishlata olmasang, aqlingni ishlat.
