Hi Lily,
The most important festival in Uzbekistan is Navruz, which we celebrate on 21st March. It’s a national holiday, so schools and offices are closed.
It’s the start of spring, so people clean their houses, visit relatives and cook special food like sumalak. There are also concerts and fairs in every city.
My favourite part is cooking sumalak all night with my neighbours, because everyone sings and tells stories. It takes about twenty-four hours, and we take turns stirring the big pot.
