I looked at the map, but I had no idea where I was. It was my first day in Istanbul, and my phone had died.
It was getting dark, and all the streets looked the same. I started to feel really worried, because I didn’t speak any Turkish.
Then I saw an old man selling bread. I showed him the name of my hotel, and he smiled. He didn’t speak English either, but he closed his shop and walked with me for twenty minutes!
When we reached the hotel, he refused to take any money. I’ll never forget his kindness.
