When I got home, the house was strangely quiet. Usually my little brothers are shouting and running everywhere.
I called my mum’s name, but nobody answered. Then I heard a strange noise from the kitchen — something was scratching at the door.
I opened the door slowly, and a little brown puppy ran towards me! Behind it, my whole family was smiling. “Surprise!” they shouted.
I had wanted a dog for five years, and I was so happy that I started crying. We called him Lucky, because that’s exactly how I felt.
