I found an old box in my grandmother’s attic. It was covered in dust, and it had a small silver lock.
When I opened it carefully, I saw a pile of old letters and a black-and-white photo of a young soldier. On the back, someone had written: “I will come back to you.”
I ran downstairs and showed it to my grandmother. Her eyes filled with tears. “That’s your grandfather,” she whispered. “He wrote to me every week during the war.”
That evening, she finally told me their love story. I will never forget it.
