Caravan: A Taste of the Silk Road
Tucked away in a quiet street in central Tashkent, Caravan is the perfect place for anyone who wants to try traditional Uzbek food in a stylish setting.
The menu is impressive, with dishes from every region of the country. I ordered the Fergana-style plov, which was rich and perfectly cooked, while my friend chose the lamb manti, which were juicy and full of flavour. The homemade bread, still warm from the oven, was a highlight.
The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, with colourful carpets and soft traditional music. The staff were friendly and helpful, although the service was rather slow on a busy Friday evening.
Overall, I would definitely recommend Caravan, especially to visitors who want to discover Uzbek cuisine. Prices are reasonable, but book a table at the weekend, as it gets very crowded.
