IELTS Task 2: Respect for Older People
IELTS 2-topshiriq: keksalarga hurmat
In some countries, older people are not treated with as much respect as they were in the past.
What are the causes of this? What can be done to solve this problem?
Write at least 250 words.
IELTS Writing Task 2 — umumiy ballning uchdan ikki qismini beradi. Savol turini aniqlang (fikr, ikki tomon, afzallik-kamchilik, muammo-yechim yoki ikki savolli) va savolning har bir qismiga javob bering. Pozitsiya kirishda ham, xulosada ham bir xil bo‘lsin.
- explain the causes — sabablarini tushuntiring
- suggest solutions — yechimlar taklif qiling
- give a clear position — aniq pozitsiya bildiring
Imtihon strategiyasi
- Vaqtni bo‘ling: 5 daqiqa reja, 30 daqiqa yozish, 5 daqiqa tekshirish.
- Har bir asosiy abzas: markaziy gap → izoh → misol yoki natija.
- Savolning HAR BIR qismiga javob bering — ikki savolli topshiriqda ikkala savolga ham.
- 250 so‘zdan kam bo‘lsa ball kamaytiriladi; 270–320 so‘z eng qulay.
Namuna javob
Sabablar va yechimlar bir-biriga mos, mahalliy misol (mahalla) madaniy kontekst beradi, lug‘at akademik. Namuna hajmi: 300 so‘z.

In traditional societies, older people were often regarded as sources of wisdom and given a central role in family life. In many modern societies, however, they are increasingly overlooked. This essay will explore the causes of this change and suggest ways to restore respect for older generations.
-
One major cause is the rapid pace of technological change. Skills and knowledge that older people possess can quickly seem outdated, while young people are often more confident with new technologies, which may lead them to see the elderly as less capable. A second cause is changes in family structure. In the past, several generations frequently lived together, so children grew up in close contact with their grandparents. Today, many families are smaller and more scattered, and older people often live alone or in care homes. Finally, the media and advertising tend to celebrate youth and present ageing negatively.
-
Several measures could help to address this problem. Schools could organise intergenerational projects, such as programmes in which students help elderly people use technology while learning about history from their memories. Such activities benefit both groups and break down stereotypes. Governments could also encourage older people to remain active in society through flexible work and volunteering opportunities, allowing them to share their experience. In addition, the media should represent older people more positively and realistically, showing them as active and valuable members of society. Within families, simple traditions such as regular shared meals can strengthen bonds between generations.
-
In Uzbekistan, the mahalla system, in which elders play an important role in community life, shows how such respect can be maintained.
-
In conclusion, technological change, new family structures and youth-focused media have reduced respect for older people. In my view, intergenerational programmes, active ageing policies and more positive media images are the most effective solutions.
