Before my sister’s wedding, I wanted a nice haircut. My usual barber was on holiday, so I went to a new place near the market.
Opamning to‘yidan oldin chiroyli soch oldirmoqchi edim. Doimiy sartaroshim ta’tilda edi, shuning uchun bozor yaqinidagi yangi joyga bordim.
I asked for “a little shorter on the sides”. The young barber nodded, but he didn’t listen. He started with a machine and, in two minutes, my hair was almost gone!
Men “yon tomonlarini biroz qisqartiring” deb so‘radim. Yosh sartarosh bosh irg‘adi, lekin quloq solmadi. U mashinka bilan boshladi va ikki daqiqada sochim deyarli yo‘q bo‘ldi!
I looked in the mirror and didn’t recognise myself. At the wedding, my uncles laughed, but my grandmother said I looked like a soldier. Luckily, hair grows back. Now I always wait for my usual barber!
Ko‘zguga qarab, o‘zimni tanimadim. To‘yda amakilarim kulishdi, lekin buvim askarga o‘xshabsan dedi. Baxtimga, soch qayta o‘sadi. Endi doim o‘z sartaroshimni kutaman!
When I came home, my mother looked at me and covered her mouth with her hand. My little brother laughed so much that he fell off the sofa. I wanted to wear a hat at the wedding, but my mother said it was not polite.
Uyga kelganimda onam menga qarab, qo‘li bilan og‘zini berkitdi. Ukam shunchalik kuldiki, divandan yiqilib tushdi. To‘yda qalpoq kiymoqchi edim, lekin onam bu odobsizlik ekanini aytdi.
But something funny happened at the wedding. Many guests asked me which barber I had visited, because short hair was fashionable that year! Two of my cousins even went to the same barber the next week.
Lekin to‘yda kulgili voqea bo‘ldi. Ko‘plab mehmonlar mendan qaysi sartaroshga borganimni so‘rashdi, chunki o‘sha yili kalta soch modada edi! Amakivachchalarimdan ikkitasi hatto keyingi hafta o‘sha sartaroshga borishdi.
