I studied on the “Speak Up” online course for three months. I chose it because I work full-time and I can’t go to classes in the evening. The price was fair: 25 dollars a month.

The good things: the lessons are short, about twenty minutes, so I could study on the bus. The app reminds you to practise every day, and the videos are funny. My vocabulary really improved.

The bad things: there is no real teacher, so nobody corrects your speaking. Also, some exercises repeat too often. My score: four stars out of five. Good for vocabulary, but you also need real conversation practice.

The course has five levels, from beginner to upper-intermediate. I started at level two after a short placement test. Each level has about sixty lessons, and there is a test at the end. If you fail, you can repeat the level for free.

My tip: use the course together with something else. I joined a free conversation club at the city library on Saturdays. The course gave me words, and the club gave me the confidence to use them.
Maslahatim: kursni boshqa narsa bilan birga ishlating. Men shanba kunlari shahar kutubxonasidagi bepul suhbat klubiga qo‘shildim. Kurs menga so‘zlar berdi, klub esa ularni ishlatish uchun ishonch berdi.
