Last Saturday, I worked as a volunteer at an animal shelter for the first time. The shelter looks after dogs and cats that have no home.
O‘tgan shanba birinchi marta hayvonlar boshpanasida ko‘ngilli bo‘lib ishladim. Boshpana uysiz itlar va mushuklarga g‘amxo‘rlik qiladi.
In the morning, I cleaned the cages and gave the animals food and water. It was hard work, and the dogs were very noisy! At lunchtime, the other volunteers told me stories about the animals.
Ertalab qafaslarni tozaladim, hayvonlarga ovqat va suv berdim. Bu og‘ir ish edi, itlar esa juda shovqinli edi! Tushlikda boshqa ko‘ngillilar menga hayvonlar haqida hikoyalar aytib berishdi.
In the afternoon, I took an old dog called Bars for a walk. He was shy at first, but at the end of the walk he put his head on my knee. I almost cried.
Tushdan keyin Bars ismli keksa itni sayrga olib chiqdim. U avvaliga uyatchan edi, lekin sayr oxirida boshini tizzamga qo‘ydi. Yig‘lab yuborishimga oz qoldi.
I want to go back every weekend. And maybe, one day, Bars can live with my family.
Har dam olish kuni qaytib bormoqchiman. Va balki, bir kun Bars oilam bilan yashaydi.
The shelter has about forty dogs and twenty cats. Most of them were found in the streets, but some were brought by families who couldn’t keep them anymore. The shelter doesn’t get money from the city, so it needs help from people: food, blankets and, of course, volunteers.
Boshpanada qirqqa yaqin it va yigirmata mushuk bor. Ularning ko‘pi ko‘chalardan topilgan, lekin ba’zilarini ularni endi boqa olmaydigan oilalar olib kelgan. Boshpana shahardan pul olmaydi, shuning uchun odamlarning yordamiga muhtoj: ovqat, ko‘rpa va, albatta, ko‘ngillilar.
Before I left, the manager told me that Bars has lived at the shelter for four years. Most people want puppies, not old dogs. “Old dogs are calm and grateful,” she said. “They just need a second chance.”
Ketishimdan oldin rahbar menga Bars boshpanada to‘rt yildan beri yashayotganini aytdi. Ko‘pchilik keksa itlarni emas, kuchukchalarni xohlaydi. “Keksa itlar xotirjam va minnatdor bo‘ladi”, dedi u. “Ularga shunchaki ikkinchi imkoniyat kerak.”
