A thirteen-year-old girl from Fergana has become the youngest person ever to win the national chess championship, beating some of the country’s most experienced players. Malika Yusupova won the eleven-day tournament in Tashkent on Sunday with eight wins, two draws and only one loss. She finished a full point ahead of the second-place player, a grandmaster more than twice her age.
Farg‘onalik o‘n uch yoshli qiz mamlakatning eng tajribali o‘yinchilarini mag‘lub etib, milliy shaxmat chempionatida g‘olib chiqqan eng yosh inson bo‘ldi. Malika Yusupova yakshanba kuni Toshkentda bo‘lib o‘tgan o‘n bir kunlik turnirda sakkiz g‘alaba, ikki durang va bor-yo‘g‘i bitta mag‘lubiyat bilan g‘olib bo‘ldi. U ikkinchi o‘rinni egallagan, o‘zidan ikki baravardan ham katta yoshdagi grossmeysterdan to‘liq bir ochko oldinda yakunladi.
Malika learned to play chess at the age of five, when her grandfather taught her the rules on an old wooden board. “At first, I just liked the shapes of the pieces, especially the horses,” she said, laughing. “But then I started to win against my grandfather, and I wanted to learn more.” By the age of eight, she was beating adults at the local chess club.
Malika besh yoshida shaxmat o‘ynashni o‘rgangan, o‘shanda bobosi unga eski yog‘och taxtada qoidalarni o‘rgatgan. “Avvaliga menga faqat donalarning shakllari, ayniqsa otlar yoqardi”, dedi u kulib. “Lekin keyin bobomni yuta boshladim va ko‘proq o‘rganishni xohladim.” Sakkiz yoshiga kelib, u mahalliy shaxmat klubida kattalarni yuta boshlagan.
Her coach, Bahodir Nazarov, has worked with her for the past five years. He says that Malika’s greatest strength is not her memory or her speed, but her calm. “Many young players are brilliant but emotional. When they make a mistake, they panic,” he explained. “Malika is different. In her loss against the champion of last year, she made a mistake early, but she didn’t give up. She played for another four hours.”
Uning murabbiyi Bahodir Nazarov so‘nggi besh yil davomida u bilan ishlab keladi. Uning aytishicha, Malikaning eng katta kuchi uning xotirasi yoki tezligi emas, balki xotirjamligi. “Ko‘plab yosh o‘yinchilar iqtidorli, lekin hissiyotli. Xato qilganlarida vahimaga tushishadi”, deb tushuntirdi u. “Malika boshqacha. O‘tgan yilgi chempionga qarshi mag‘lubiyatida u erta xato qildi, lekin taslim bo‘lmadi. U yana to‘rt soat o‘ynadi.”
Malika’s daily routine is demanding. She goes to school in the morning, like any other teenager, and then studies chess for four to five hours every afternoon. She solves chess puzzles, studies famous games from the past and plays practice games online against players from around the world. On Sundays, however, she has a strict rule: no chess at all. “I go to the park with my friends or read books,” she said. “Your brain needs to rest.”
Malikaning kundalik tartibi og‘ir. U boshqa o‘smirlar kabi ertalab maktabga boradi, keyin har kuni tushdan keyin to‘rt-besh soat shaxmat bilan shug‘ullanadi. U shaxmat jumboqlarini yechadi, o‘tmishdagi mashhur o‘yinlarni o‘rganadi va internetda dunyoning turli burchaklaridagi o‘yinchilar bilan mashq o‘yinlarini o‘ynaydi. Biroq yakshanba kunlari uning qat’iy qoidasi bor: umuman shaxmat yo‘q. “Do‘stlarim bilan bog‘ga boraman yoki kitob o‘qiyman”, dedi u. “Miyaga dam kerak.”
Uzbekistan has become one of the strongest chess nations in the world in recent years. In 2022, the men’s team won the Chess Olympiad, one of the most important team competitions in the sport, and the country now has more than twenty grandmasters. Chess is taught in many schools, and the number of young players has grown rapidly. Experts say Malika’s victory shows that the women’s game is growing quickly too.
So‘nggi yillarda O‘zbekiston dunyodagi eng kuchli shaxmat davlatlaridan biriga aylandi. 2022-yilda erkaklar jamoasi bu sport turidagi eng muhim jamoaviy musobaqalardan biri — Shaxmat olimpiadasida g‘olib chiqdi va mamlakatda hozir yigirmadan ortiq grossmeyster bor. Shaxmat ko‘plab maktablarda o‘qitiladi va yosh o‘yinchilar soni tez o‘sib bormoqda. Mutaxassislarning fikricha, Malikaning g‘alabasi ayollar shaxmati ham tez rivojlanayotganini ko‘rsatadi.
Malika’s victory means that she will represent Uzbekistan at the World Junior Championship in Italy next spring. Her dream, she says, is to become the women’s world champion one day. But first, she has more immediate concerns. “I have a maths test on Wednesday,” she said. “My teacher says chess is not an excuse.”
Malikaning g‘alabasi u kelgusi bahorda Italiyada bo‘ladigan o‘smirlar o‘rtasidagi jahon chempionatida O‘zbekiston sharafini himoya qilishini anglatadi. Uning aytishicha, orzusi bir kun ayollar o‘rtasida jahon chempioni bo‘lish. Lekin avval uning yaqinroq tashvishlari bor. “Chorshanba kuni matematikadan nazorat ishim bor”, dedi u. “O‘qituvchim shaxmat bahona emas, deydi.”
