Describe a healthy habit you have.
You should say:
- what the habit is
- when you started it
- how you keep it up
and explain how it has affected your life.
Namuna javob
One healthy habit I’m quite proud of is that I go for a forty-minute walk every morning before work, regardless of the weather. I started about two years ago, after a period when I was working long hours, sleeping badly and feeling constantly tired. A friend suggested walking, and I was sceptical, because it seemed too simple to make any difference. At first, it was a struggle, especially in winter when it’s dark and freezing at seven. To keep it up, I made a few rules for myself. I lay out my clothes the night before, so there’s no decision to make in the morning. I don’t take my phone out of my pocket during the walk, apart from listening to a podcast. And I track it on a calendar, so I can see my streak — I really hate breaking it. The effects have honestly surprised me. Physically, I’ve lost a few kilos and my blood pressure has gone down. But the bigger change has been mental. I arrive at work calmer and more focused, and I often solve problems in my head while I walk. It’s also become a kind of quiet time for myself before the busy day starts. Looking back, it’s probably the best small decision I’ve ever made.

-
Why do people find it hard to change unhealthy habits?
Namuna javob
Habits are automatic, so changing them requires constant effort. Many people also set unrealistic goals and give up when they don’t see quick results.
Ikki sabab.
-
Should governments encourage healthy lifestyles?
Namuna javob
Yes, through things like taxes on sugary drinks, building cycle lanes and funding public sports facilities. Prevention is far cheaper than treatment.

-
Is mental health as important as physical health?
Namuna javob
Absolutely, and the two are closely linked. Poor mental health can lead to physical illness, and vice versa.
Bog‘liqlik.
-
Are people healthier today than in the past?
Namuna javob
In some ways — we live longer and medicine is better. But we’re less active and eat more processed food, which causes new problems like obesity.
Ikki tomon.
