Is politeness important in your culture?
Namuna javob
Very — especially towards elders and guests. Being rude to an older person is seen as a serious failing.

How did your parents teach you manners?

Mostly by example, but my grandmother would gently correct me if I forgot to greet someone.

In some ways — people are often distracted by phones — but I don’t think it’s as bad as people claim.

Describe a person you know who is very polite.
You should say:
- who this person is
- how you know him or her
- how he or she behaves
and explain why you think this person is so polite.
Namuna javob
The most polite person I know is a colleague of mine called Bobur, who manages our accounts department. I’ve worked with him for about four years, and I’ve never once heard him raise his voice or speak dismissively to anyone, whether it’s the company director or the cleaner. What stands out about him are the small, consistent things. He remembers people’s names and asks after their families. He holds doors open, he always says thank you in emails, even for tiny tasks, and when he disagrees with someone in a meeting, he begins by acknowledging their point before explaining his own view. I’ve also noticed that he gives people his full attention — he puts his phone face down when you talk to him, which is surprisingly rare these days. I think there are a few reasons he’s like this. Partly, it’s his upbringing; he grew up in a large family in a village where respect for others was essential. But I also think it’s a conscious choice. He once told me that politeness costs nothing but makes everyone’s day slightly better, and that people remember how you made them feel. Working with him has definitely made me more aware of my own behaviour.
Shaxs → aniq xatti-harakatlar (misollar) → sabablar (tarbiya + ongli tanlov) → sizga ta’siri.
3-qism: Muhokama
Part 3 da imtihonchi mavzuni umumlashtirib, jamiyat darajasidagi savollar beradi. Fikr + sabab + misol + (ixtiyoriy) qarshi fikr.
-
Do different cultures have different ideas of politeness?
Namuna javob
Very much so. In some cultures, directness is respected, while in others, including mine, people express disagreement more indirectly to avoid causing embarrassment.
Madaniy taqqoslash.
-
Has technology affected the way people are polite?
Namuna javob
It’s created new rules, like not checking your phone during conversations. Online, people sometimes say things they would never say face to face, because they feel anonymous.
Yangi qoidalar + muammo.
-
Should politeness be taught in schools?
Namuna javob
I think schools reinforce what children learn at home, through classroom rules and by teachers modelling respectful behaviour.
Pozitsiya.
-
Is it ever acceptable to be impolite?
Namuna javob
Perhaps when politeness would mean tolerating injustice — for example, speaking up firmly when someone is being treated badly.
Istisno.
