Namuna javob
I’d like to talk about the time I lost my passport, just two days before an international flight, about three years ago. I was travelling to a conference in Germany, which was a big opportunity for my career, and I had a visa in that passport that had taken weeks to get. I’d used it to collect a parcel at the post office, and when I got home, it simply wasn’t in my bag. I panicked. First, I searched my flat from top to bottom, then I retraced my steps — the post office, a pharmacy and a café where I’d stopped for lunch. Nobody had seen it. The next morning, I reported it to the police and started looking into emergency travel documents, although I knew my visa would be lost too. Then, that afternoon, I received a call from the café: a waiter had found it under a sofa cushion and recognised my photo from when I’d paid. I felt an overwhelming wave of relief, and honestly, I almost cried on the phone. Looking back, the experience taught me two lessons. One is practical — I now keep my passport in a zipped inside pocket. The other is about people: that waiter didn’t have to make the effort to find me, but he did, and I’ll always be grateful.

-
Why do people become attached to certain possessions?
Namuna javob
Often because objects carry memories or connections to people we love. A cheap item can be priceless if it belonged to a grandparent or reminds us of an important moment.
Sabab.
-
Has technology made it easier to find lost items?
Namuna javob
In many cases, yes — tracking devices and phone-finder apps are very effective. But they also make us more careless, because we rely on technology to rescue us.
Ikki tomon.
-
Are people today too attached to material things?
Namuna javob
Many are, partly because of consumer culture and advertising. However, there’s also a growing trend towards minimalism, especially among younger people.
Trend.
-
Is it always right to return lost property?
Namuna javob
Morally, yes. Even if the owner never finds out, keeping something that isn’t yours is a form of dishonesty.
Axloqiy pozitsiya.
