Dear Ms Thompson,
I am writing to apply for the summer internship at Green Future International, which I saw advertised on your website.
I am currently in my third year of an environmental science degree, and I have long been passionate about tackling the effects of climate change in Central Asia, particularly the shrinking of the Aral Sea. Your organisation’s work on water management in the region is precisely the kind of practical, evidence-based approach I would like to be involved in.
Last year, I volunteered with a local group that monitored water quality in rural areas, which involved collecting samples, analysing data and presenting our findings to community leaders. This experience taught me to work effectively in a team and to communicate complex information clearly. I am fluent in English, Uzbek and Russian, and I am highly organised, having successfully combined my studies with part-time work. In addition, I have completed an online course in data analysis, which I believe would be useful for your research projects.
Through this internship, I hope to gain first-hand experience of how international projects are planned and evaluated, and to develop skills that will help me pursue a career in environmental policy. I am also keen to learn from experienced professionals and to contribute fresh ideas to your team.
I would welcome the opportunity to discuss my application at an interview. Thank you for considering my application.
Yours sincerely,
Madina Yusupova
