Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing in response to your article of 12th March, which claimed that public transport in our town is satisfactory and requires no further investment. As a daily bus user, I am afraid I must strongly disagree.
First and foremost, the service is highly unreliable. Buses on the main route to the city centre are frequently twenty or thirty minutes late, and timetables are rarely accurate. During rush hour, vehicles are so overcrowded that many passengers, including elderly people and parents with young children, are simply unable to board. Furthermore, there are no services at all after nine o’clock in the evening, which leaves shift workers with no choice but to pay for expensive taxis.
I would therefore like to suggest several improvements. Increasing the frequency of buses during peak hours would ease overcrowding, while introducing a real-time information system would allow passengers to plan their journeys. Extending services into the evening would also make a significant difference to those who work late.
It is worth noting that better public transport would not only benefit current passengers but also encourage drivers to leave their cars at home, reducing congestion and pollution. Other towns of a similar size have shown that such investment quickly pays for itself through higher passenger numbers. I trust that the council will reconsider its priorities.
Yours faithfully,
Dilshod Karimov
