IELTS Task 2: A Cashless Society
IELTS 2-topshiriq: naqd pulsiz jamiyat
In many countries, people are using cash less and less, and paying for most things by card or phone instead.
Is this a positive or negative development?
Write at least 250 words.
IELTS Writing Task 2 — umumiy ballning uchdan ikki qismini beradi. Savol turini aniqlang (fikr, ikki tomon, afzallik-kamchilik, muammo-yechim yoki ikki savolli) va savolning har bir qismiga javob bering. Pozitsiya kirishda ham, xulosada ham bir xil bo‘lsin.
- discuss the positive effects — ijobiy ta’sirlarini muhokama qiling
- discuss the negative effects — salbiy ta’sirlarini muhokama qiling
- state clearly whether it is positive or negative — ijobiy yoki salbiy ekanini aniq ayting
Imtihon strategiyasi
- Vaqtni bo‘ling: 5 daqiqa reja, 30 daqiqa yozish, 5 daqiqa tekshirish.
- Har bir asosiy abzas: markaziy gap → izoh → misol yoki natija.
- Savolning HAR BIR qismiga javob bering — ikki savolli topshiriqda ikkala savolga ham.
- 250 so‘zdan kam bo‘lsa ball kamaytiriladi; 270–320 so‘z eng qulay.
Namuna javob
Savolga aniq javob, ikkala tomon chuqur, real misol (Shvetsiya) va tadqiqotga ishora, xulosa muvozanatli. Namuna hajmi: 295 so‘z.

From buying coffee to paying for public transport, an increasing number of everyday transactions are now made without cash. In my view, this development is largely positive, although it creates risks that must be carefully managed.
-
The most obvious benefit of digital payments is convenience. Paying by phone or card is faster than counting coins, and people no longer need to visit cash machines or worry about carrying enough money. Digital payments are also safer in some respects, since there is less cash to steal, and shops and banks face lower costs for handling and transporting money. From a government perspective, electronic transactions are easier to track, which makes it harder to avoid paying taxes or to launder money from criminal activities. In some countries, such as Sweden, cash now accounts for only a small fraction of payments.
-
However, a cashless society also has serious drawbacks. Elderly people and those who are not comfortable with technology may find it difficult to manage digital payments, and people without bank accounts could be excluded from everyday life. There are also concerns about privacy, because every electronic payment creates a record that companies or governments could monitor. Moreover, digital systems are vulnerable to technical failures and cyber attacks; if a payment network stops working, people may be unable to buy essential items. Finally, some research suggests that people spend more when they pay by card, because it feels less real than handing over cash.
-
These risks mean that cash should not disappear completely. Governments should ensure that it remains available for those who need it and protect consumers’ data and security.
-
In conclusion, the move towards cashless payments brings significant benefits in convenience and safety, but it must be managed carefully to protect vulnerable groups and personal privacy.
