IELTS Task 2: Free Entry to Museums
IELTS 2-topshiriq: muzeylarga bepul kirish
Some people believe that museums and art galleries should be free for everyone, while others think visitors should pay an entrance fee.
Discuss both views and give your own opinion.
Write at least 250 words.
IELTS Writing Task 2 — umumiy ballning uchdan ikki qismini beradi. Savol turini aniqlang (fikr, ikki tomon, afzallik-kamchilik, muammo-yechim yoki ikki savolli) va savolning har bir qismiga javob bering. Pozitsiya kirishda ham, xulosada ham bir xil bo‘lsin.
- discuss the view that museums should be free — bepul bo‘lishi kerak degan fikrni muhokama qiling
- discuss the view that visitors should pay — pul to‘lash kerak degan fikrni muhokama qiling
- give your own opinion — o‘z fikringizni bildiring
Imtihon strategiyasi
- Vaqtni bo‘ling: 5 daqiqa reja, 30 daqiqa yozish, 5 daqiqa tekshirish.
- Har bir asosiy abzas: markaziy gap → izoh → misol yoki natija.
- Savolning HAR BIR qismiga javob bering — ikki savolli topshiriqda ikkala savolga ham.
- 250 so‘zdan kam bo‘lsa ball kamaytiriladi; 270–320 so‘z eng qulay.
Namuna javob
Ikkala fikr kuchli dalillar bilan, real tarixiy misol, o‘z pozitsiyasi murosali va asoslangan. Namuna hajmi: 267 so‘z.

Museums preserve a nation’s history and art, but maintaining them is expensive. There is therefore some debate about whether entry should be free or whether visitors should contribute through a ticket. In my view, permanent collections should be free, while special exhibitions can reasonably charge a fee.
-
Supporters of free entry argue that culture belongs to everyone. Museums are an important source of education, and charging for admission excludes families on low incomes and discourages people from visiting regularly. When the United Kingdom abolished fees at national museums in 2001, visitor numbers at some of them more than doubled, suggesting that price is a significant barrier. Free museums also benefit schools, which can organise educational visits without asking parents for money.
-
On the other hand, those who support entrance fees point out that museums need large sums to protect fragile objects, employ experts and organise new exhibitions. Without ticket income, they must rely on government funding, which may be cut during economic difficulties. Furthermore, tourists, who often make up a large proportion of visitors, can easily afford to pay. Some also argue that people value things more when they have to pay for them, and that a small fee encourages more respectful behaviour.
-
I believe a mixed approach is the fairest solution. Free access to the main collections ensures that everyone can enjoy their national heritage, while charges for temporary exhibitions, together with optional donations, can help to cover costs.
-
In conclusion, both free entry and fees have clear justifications, but combining free permanent collections with paid special exhibitions offers the best balance between access and sustainability.
