IELTS Task 2: Railways or Roads?
IELTS 2-topshiriq: temir yo‘l yoki avtomobil yo‘li?
Governments should spend money on railways rather than roads.
To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?
Write at least 250 words.
IELTS Writing Task 2 — umumiy ballning uchdan ikki qismini beradi. Savol turini aniqlang (fikr, ikki tomon, afzallik-kamchilik, muammo-yechim yoki ikki savolli) va savolning har bir qismiga javob bering. Pozitsiya kirishda ham, xulosada ham bir xil bo‘lsin.
- present arguments for railways — temir yo‘l foydasiga dalillar keltiring
- present arguments for roads — avtomobil yo‘llari foydasiga dalillar keltiring
- state clearly how far you agree — qanchalik qo‘shilishingizni ayting
Imtihon strategiyasi
- Vaqtni bo‘ling: 5 daqiqa reja, 30 daqiqa yozish, 5 daqiqa tekshirish.
- Har bir asosiy abzas: markaziy gap → izoh → misol yoki natija.
- Savolning HAR BIR qismiga javob bering — ikki savolli topshiriqda ikkala savolga ham.
- 250 so‘zdan kam bo‘lsa ball kamaytiriladi; 270–320 so‘z eng qulay.
Namuna javob
Pozitsiya aniq, real misollar (Ispaniya, Xitoy, Afrosiyob), “induced demand” kabi ilmiy tushuncha argumentni kuchaytiradi. Namuna hajmi: 298 so‘z.

Transport infrastructure is one of the largest areas of public spending, and governments must decide how to divide limited budgets between roads and railways. I agree to a large extent that railways deserve greater investment, although roads will always remain necessary in certain areas.
-
The strongest argument for prioritising railways is environmental. Trains produce far less carbon dioxide per passenger than cars or lorries, especially when they run on electricity from renewable sources. A single train can carry hundreds of people or the equivalent of dozens of lorry loads of goods, which reduces both pollution and traffic congestion. High-speed rail can also compete with short-distance flights; in countries such as Spain and China, fast trains have replaced many domestic air routes. In addition, railways are safer than roads, where thousands of people are killed in accidents every year. In Uzbekistan, the high-speed Afrosiyob line has made travel between Tashkent, Samarkand and Bukhara faster and more comfortable than driving.
-
On the other hand, roads have important advantages. They are more flexible, allowing people to travel directly from door to door, and they are essential in rural or mountainous areas where building railways would be too expensive. Most goods still reach shops and homes by road for at least part of their journey, and emergency services depend on a good road network.
-
Nevertheless, building more roads often encourages more driving rather than reducing congestion, a phenomenon known as induced demand. Railways, in contrast, provide a long-term solution for busy routes between cities. Governments should therefore focus road spending on maintenance and rural connections, while directing major new investment towards rail.
-
In conclusion, while roads remain essential for flexibility and rural access, railways offer greater environmental, safety and capacity benefits, so they should receive the larger share of future transport investment.
