Dear Ms Hasanova, I am writing to apply for the position of summer tour guide, which I saw advertised on your company’s website last week. I am a third-year student of tourism at Samarkand State University, and I believe that my knowledge of the city, my language skills and my experience of working with people make me a strong candidate for this job.

I have lived in Samarkand all my life, and I know its history very well. As part of my course, I have studied the architecture of the Registan, the Shah-i-Zinda complex and the Bibi-Khanym Mosque in detail. I also enjoy finding small, less famous places, such as old family bakeries and craft workshops, which I think tourists find especially interesting.

As for languages, I speak Uzbek, Russian and English fluently. I passed the IELTS exam last year with a score of 7.0. I am also learning French, and I can already have simple conversations. Last spring, I spent two months in Lyon on an exchange programme, which helped me to improve my French and taught me a lot about how tourists from Europe like to travel.
Tillarga kelsak, men o‘zbek, rus va ingliz tillarida ravon gapiraman. O‘tgan yili IELTS imtihonini 7.0 ball bilan topshirdim. Men fransuz tilini ham o‘rganyapman va allaqachon oddiy suhbatlar qura olaman. Although I have not worked as a professional guide before, I have relevant experience. For the past two summers, I have worked at the reception desk of a small hotel near the Registan. My job included answering guests’ questions, booking taxis and recommending restaurants. Several guests left positive reviews online and mentioned me by name, which made me very proud.

In addition, I volunteered at the Silk and Spices Festival in 2025, where I helped foreign visitors find their way around and explained the history of traditional crafts. This experience showed me that I really enjoy telling people about my city and seeing them become interested in our culture.

I am a friendly, organised and reliable person. I am comfortable speaking in front of groups, and I stay calm when there are problems. I am available to work from the beginning of June until the end of August, including weekends. My university classes do not start again until 15 September.
