Review: “The Flying Carpet”

Last weekend I took my two children, aged seven and ten, to see the new cartoon “The Flying Carpet”. It’s an animated film for families, and it lasts about an hour and a half. I didn’t expect much, but in the end all three of us enjoyed it. Here’s what I thought.

The story is about a poor boy called Rashid who lives in an old city in the desert. One day, he finds a dusty carpet in his grandmother’s house. When he sits on it, it starts to fly! Rashid and his clever little sister, Zuhra, travel across mountains, seas and forests to find a magic flower that can save their sick grandmother.

The best thing about the film is how it looks. The pictures are beautiful and full of colour. The flying scenes are exciting, and my younger son held my arm during the storm scene! The music is also very good. It uses traditional instruments like the doira and the dutar, and I am still singing one of the songs.
Filmning eng yaxshi tomoni uning ko‘rinishi. Tasvirlar chiroyli va rang-barang. Uchish sahnalari hayajonli va kenja o‘g‘lim bo‘ron sahnasida qo‘limni ushlab oldi! Musiqa ham juda yaxshi. Unda doira va dutor kabi an’anaviy cholg‘ular ishlatilgan va men hali ham qo‘shiqlardan birini xirgoyi qilib yuribman.
I also liked the characters. Zuhra is my favourite. She is smaller than her brother, but she is often the one who solves the problems. It’s nice to see a strong girl in a children’s film. The funny old camel who helps them is also great. The children in the cinema laughed every time he appeared.
Qahramonlar ham menga yoqdi. Zuhra mening sevimli qahramonim. U akasidan kichikroq, lekin muammolarni ko‘pincha u hal qiladi. Bolalar filmida kuchli qizni ko‘rish yoqimli. Ularga yordam beradigan kulgili qari tuya ham ajoyib. Kinoteatrdagi bolalar u har safar paydo bo‘lganda kulishdi.
However, the film isn’t perfect. The middle part is a bit too long, and my daughter got bored for about fifteen minutes. The bad character, an angry wizard, is also a little scary for very young children, so I don’t recommend it for kids under five. And the ending is easy to guess, but I don’t think children will mind.
Biroq film mukammal emas. O‘rta qismi biroz uzun va qizim taxminan o‘n besh daqiqa zerikib qoldi. Salbiy qahramon — jahldor sehrgar ham juda kichik bolalar uchun biroz qo‘rqinchli, shuning uchun uni besh yoshdan kichik bolalarga tavsiya etmayman. Oxiri ham oson taxmin qilinadi, lekin bolalar bunga e’tibor berishmaydi deb o‘ylayman.
Overall, “The Flying Carpet” is a lovely film for a family day out. It has a good message about family, courage and helping others. I give it four stars out of five. Tickets are cheaper on weekday mornings, so go then if you can.
