Describe a traditional dish from your country.
You should say:
- what the dish is
- how it is made
- when people eat it
and explain why it is important in your culture.
Namuna javob
I’d like to talk about sumalak, which is a very traditional Uzbek dish, although it’s quite different from what most foreigners would expect. It’s a thick, sweet, brown paste made from sprouted wheat, and remarkably, it contains no sugar at all — the sweetness comes naturally from the sprouted grains. Making it is a long process. About a week beforehand, women soak wheat grains until they sprout, then crush them to make a liquid. This is cooked with flour and oil in a huge cauldron over a fire for around twenty-four hours, and it has to be stirred constantly so it doesn’t burn. People also put small stones in the bottom of the pot, which supposedly prevents sticking. Sumalak is eaten only once a year, during Navruz, the spring festival. What makes it so important is not really the taste, but the process. Traditionally, the women of a neighbourhood gather to cook it together through the night, taking turns to stir and singing songs. It’s seen as a symbol of renewal and abundance, and people make wishes while stirring. In a sense, it’s less a dish than a social event — it brings communities together in a way few other things do.
Taomni tushuntiring + jarayon + vaqt + madaniy ahamiyat (oxirgisi eng muhim).
3-qism: Muhokama
Part 3 da imtihonchi mavzuni umumlashtirib, jamiyat darajasidagi savollar beradi. Fikr + sabab + misol + (ixtiyoriy) qarshi fikr.
-
Is traditional food disappearing because of globalisation?
Namuna javob
Not disappearing, but changing. Fast food is very popular among young people, yet traditional dishes remain central to family life and celebrations. Some restaurants are even modernising traditional recipes.
Nozik.
-
Should schools teach children how to cook?
Namuna javob
Absolutely. Cooking is a basic life skill, and children who can cook are more likely to eat healthily as adults. It’s also a way to pass on cultural knowledge.
Uch dalil.
-
Why is food such an important part of culture?
Namuna javob
Food reflects a country’s geography, history and values. In Uzbekistan, for example, hospitality is central, so serving generous amounts of food to guests is a matter of respect.
Misol bilan.
-
Do people eat more healthily now than in the past?
Namuna javob
In some ways less healthily, because of processed food and sugar. But people also have more knowledge about nutrition and access to a wider variety of food.
Ikki tomon.
