Describe an advertising campaign that you think was effective or clever.
You should say:
- what it advertised
- where you saw it
- what made it stand out
and explain whether you think it was ethical.
Namuna javob
An advertising campaign I found strikingly effective was one run by a Swedish oat-milk company a few years ago. I came across it on social media and later saw billboards in Europe while travelling. What made it stand out was its tone. Instead of the usual glossy images of happy families, the adverts were text-heavy, self-mocking and almost confrontational — one billboard simply said “It’s like milk, but made for humans”, and the company even printed its carbon footprint on its packaging, inviting competitors to do the same. Another advert featured the CEO singing badly in a field. It was cheap to produce, yet it generated enormous attention precisely because it broke the conventions of the industry. In terms of ethics, I have somewhat mixed views. On the positive side, it was transparent about the product’s environmental impact and encouraged consumers to think about sustainability, which is arguably a public good. It didn’t exaggerate health claims or target children. However, I think it was also cleverly manipulative in its own way. Its “anti-advertising” style made consumers feel smart and rebellious for buying it — and that’s still a marketing technique, just a more sophisticated one. The dairy industry also argued that some of its comparisons were misleading. So I’d conclude that it was more ethical than much advertising, but that “honest-seeming” marketing deserves scrutiny too, since authenticity itself has become something companies sell.
Kampaniya → nima ajratib turdi → axloqiy baho (ijobiy + yashirin manipulyatsiya) → nozik xulosa.
3-qism: Muhokama
Band 7–8 uchun Part 3 da mavhum g‘oyalarni muhokama qilish, taxmin qilish, taqqoslash va nozik pozitsiya bildirish kutiladi.
-
Should advertising aimed at children be banned?
Namuna javob
I’d support strict limits, particularly for unhealthy food and online games with in-app purchases, because young children can’t reliably recognise persuasion. A complete ban is harder to enforce online, but platforms could be held responsible.
Pozitsiya + amaliyot.
-
Are influencers more trustworthy than traditional advertising?
Namuna javob
They often feel more trustworthy because they seem personal, which is precisely what makes them powerful — and potentially problematic, if sponsorships aren’t clearly disclosed.
Paradoks.
-
Does advertising have any positive role in society?
Namuna javob
Yes — it informs people about products, funds free media and can promote public-health messages. The issue isn’t advertising itself, but deceptive or exploitative forms of it.
Farqlash.
-
How should advertising be regulated?
Namuna javob
Through clear disclosure rules, independent standards bodies with real enforcement powers, and penalties that are large enough to matter to big companies.
