Space spends too much money.
Space programmes are expensive, but their budgets are modest relative to other areas.

-
Are you interested in space?
Namuna javob
Fascinated, ever since I saw the Milky Way properly in the mountains as a child.
Xotira.
-
Would you travel to space if you could?
Namuna javob
Only if it were very safe — and very cheap. So probably not in my lifetime.
Hazil.
-
Do you enjoy science-fiction films?
Namuna javob
The thoughtful ones, like “Interstellar”, more than pure action.
Did.
-
Have you ever looked at the stars through a telescope?
Namuna javob
Once at a planetarium — seeing Saturn’s rings with my own eyes was unforgettable.
Tajriba.

Describe a scientific achievement in space that you find impressive.
You should say:
- what it was
- when it happened
- how you learned about it
and explain why you find it impressive.
Namuna javob
A space achievement I find genuinely awe-inspiring is the James Webb Space Telescope, which was launched on Christmas Day 2021 and began sending back images in the summer of 2022. I followed the launch live online, partly because I’d read how risky it was: the telescope had to unfold itself in space, through hundreds of separate steps, any one of which could have ruined the entire mission. The first images were released publicly, and I remember sitting at my laptop late at night, zooming into a picture of a tiny patch of sky packed with thousands of galaxies, some of which we were seeing as they were more than thirteen billion years ago. I find it impressive on several levels. Technically, it’s an extraordinary feat of engineering; its mirror is made of gold-coated segments that had to be aligned to within a fraction of the width of a human hair, and it operates at temperatures near absolute zero, a million and a half kilometres from Earth. Scientifically, it’s allowing researchers to study the formation of the earliest galaxies and even analyse the atmospheres of distant planets, which could one day help answer whether life exists elsewhere. But perhaps what moves me most is the humility it inspires. Seeing those images puts our everyday conflicts into perspective; we are an astonishingly small part of an unimaginably vast universe. It’s also a remarkable example of international cooperation, involving the American, European and Canadian space agencies, at a time when cooperation often seems in short supply.

3-qism: Muhokama
Band 7–8 uchun Part 3 da mavhum g‘oyalarni muhokama qilish, taxmin qilish, taqqoslash va nozik pozitsiya bildirish kutiladi.
-
Is space exploration a waste of money?
Namuna javob
I don’t think so, given the scientific returns and practical spin-offs, from satellite communications to climate monitoring. However, priorities matter; missions should serve scientific or public goals rather than national prestige alone.
Pozitsiya + shart.
-
Should humans try to colonise other planets?
Namuna javob
As a long-term insurance policy for humanity, there’s some logic to it. But I worry it can distract from protecting the only planet we know can support us; Mars will never be more habitable than a damaged Earth.
Ikki tomon + kuchli xulosa.
-
Is it a good thing that private companies are involved in space?
Namuna javob
They’ve driven down costs remarkably and accelerated innovation. The concern is accountability — space is a shared environment, and commercial incentives may not prioritise issues like space debris.
Foyda + xavf.
-
Can space exploration bring countries together?
Namuna javob
It already has — the International Space Station is a striking example of former rivals cooperating. But space can equally become an arena for competition, so it depends on political will.
Shartli.
