Describe a building you find beautiful.
You should say:
- where it is
- what it looks like
- what it is used for
and explain why you find it beautiful.
Namuna javob
A building I find genuinely beautiful is the Samanid Mausoleum in Bukhara, which dates from the tenth century and is one of the oldest surviving monuments in Central Asia. It sits in a quiet park on the edge of the old city, and at first glance it’s surprisingly modest — a small cube, perhaps ten metres across, topped with a dome. What makes it extraordinary is that it’s built entirely of baked brick, yet the bricks are laid in such intricate patterns that the walls seem woven, almost like a textile or a basket. As the sun moves across the sky, the shadows in these patterns change constantly, so the building looks different at every hour of the day. It was built as a family tomb for the Samanid dynasty, and today it functions mainly as a monument visited by tourists and local families. I find it beautiful for several reasons. Partly, it’s the craftsmanship: the builders achieved an astonishing richness using only one humble material, with no tiles or paint. Partly, it’s the sense of proportion; despite its small size, it feels perfectly balanced and calm. But I think what moves me most is its survival. Legend says it was buried under sand and mud for centuries, which protected it from invaders, and it was only rediscovered in the twentieth century. Standing in front of it, I feel connected to craftsmen who lived over a thousand years ago, and it reminds me that real beauty doesn’t require scale or expense — just skill and care.
Joy → tashqi ko‘rinish (material, naqsh, yorug‘lik) → funksiya → nega go‘zal (mahorat, proporsiya, tarix) → falsafiy xulosa.
3-qism: Muhokama
Band 7–8 uchun Part 3 da mavhum g‘oyalarni muhokama qilish, taxmin qilish, taqqoslash va nozik pozitsiya bildirish kutiladi.
-
How does architecture affect people’s well-being?
Namuna javob
More than we often recognise. Natural light, green space and a human scale tend to reduce stress, whereas monotonous, poorly lit environments can contribute to isolation. Design influences how people move, meet and feel.
Mexanizm.
-
Should new buildings in historic areas match the old style?
Namuna javob
Not necessarily imitate it, but they should be sympathetic — in height, materials and proportions. Pastiche can look fake, whereas thoughtful contemporary design can complement history.
Nozik farq.
-
Is it more important for buildings to be functional or beautiful?
Namuna javob
I’d challenge the opposition between the two. The best buildings are both; beauty itself has a function, because people care for and preserve buildings they love.
Dixotomiyani rad etish.
-
Should governments regulate the appearance of buildings?
Namuna javob
To a degree, particularly in historic districts. But excessive regulation can stifle creativity, so clear principles are better than rigid rules.
Muvozanat.
