Namuna javob
The most important decision I’ve made so far was choosing to change my university major in my second year. I’d originally enrolled in law, mainly because my parents thought it was a respectable and secure career. However, after a year I realised I was miserable; I found the reading dry, and I couldn’t imagine doing it for the rest of my life. At the same time, I’d started an optional course in computer science and was completely absorbed by it. Making the decision took months. I talked to lecturers in both departments, spoke to graduates about their jobs, and made a long list of pros and cons. The hardest part was telling my parents, because I knew they’d be disappointed. In the end, I explained my reasons calmly and showed them my grades in programming, which were much higher. Afterwards, I felt a huge sense of relief, mixed with some anxiety, because I had to catch up on a year of material. Looking back, it was definitely the right choice — I now work as a software developer and genuinely enjoy what I do.

-
Should parents make important decisions for their children?
Namuna javob
For young children, certainly. But once people reach adulthood, parents should advise rather than decide. Young adults need to learn from their own choices, including their mistakes.
Yoshga qarab.
-
Why do some people find decision-making so difficult?
Namuna javob
Partly because of fear of making the wrong choice, and partly because there are simply too many options nowadays — psychologists call it “choice overload”.
Ikki sabab + termin.
-
Is it better to make decisions based on logic or feelings?
Namuna javob
Ideally a combination. Logic helps you evaluate the practical side, but if a decision feels completely wrong, there’s usually a reason for that.
Muvozanat.
-
Do young people today have more choices than previous generations?
Namuna javob
In terms of careers and lifestyles, definitely. My grandparents often had their jobs chosen for them, whereas now there’s an overwhelming range of options.
Avlodlar taqqoslash.
