-
Do you buy many products from other countries?
Namuna javob
More than I’d like to admit — my phone, most of my clothes and even some food. It’s quite striking when you actually think about it.
O‘z-o‘zini kuzatish.
-
Do you enjoy food from other cultures?
Namuna javob
Very much. Tashkent’s food scene has become remarkably cosmopolitan; you can get decent ramen now, which was unthinkable a decade ago.
O‘zgarish.
-
Have you ever worked with people from other countries?
Namuna javob
Regularly. Most of my projects involve partners in Europe or Asia, which has taught me a lot about different working styles.
Tajriba.
-
Would you like to live abroad?
Namuna javob
For a few years, certainly — for the perspective it gives you. Permanently, I’m less sure.

Describe a foreign product or brand that has become popular in your country.
You should say:
- what it is
- when it became popular
- who uses it
and explain why you think it has become so popular.
Namuna javob
A foreign product that has become ubiquitous in Uzbekistan over the last few years is Korean skincare — the multi-step routines of serums, toners and sheet masks that originated in South Korea. I first noticed it around five years ago, when small specialist shops began appearing in Tashkent shopping centres, and now you can find Korean cosmetics in almost every pharmacy and supermarket. Its customers were initially young women in their twenties, but the market has broadened considerably; teenagers, older women and increasingly men are buying these products too. I think its popularity stems from a combination of factors. The most obvious is the influence of Korean pop culture. K-dramas and K-pop have enormous followings here, and the flawless skin of the actors has become an aspiration in itself — so the products are effectively marketed by the culture. Secondly, there’s the price point. Korean products are generally cheaper than Western luxury brands while being perceived as innovative and high-quality, which hits a sweet spot for middle-income consumers. And finally, social media has amplified everything; beauty bloggers in Uzbek and Russian post detailed reviews and tutorials, which builds trust. What I find particularly interesting is that it represents a shift in cultural influence. For decades, aspirational products here came from Russia or the West; now, East Asia is setting trends, which says a lot about how global soft power is evolving.

3-qism: Muhokama
Band 7–8 uchun Part 3 da mavhum g‘oyalarni muhokama qilish, taxmin qilish, taqqoslash va nozik pozitsiya bildirish kutiladi.
-
Does globalisation threaten local cultures?
Namuna javob
It certainly exerts pressure — there’s a real risk of homogenisation, where every city starts to look and sound the same. Yet globalisation can also revive interest in local traditions, partly as a reaction against sameness, and partly because tourists actively seek out authentic experiences.
Ikki yo‘nalishli ta’sir.
-
Who benefits most from globalisation?
Namuna javob
Broadly speaking, consumers and multinational companies, along with skilled workers who can compete internationally. The losers tend to be workers in industries exposed to cheaper competition, unless governments invest seriously in retraining.
G‘olib va mag‘lublar.
-
Is the world becoming more or less globalised?
Namuna javob
We may be entering a phase of partial retreat. Supply-chain disruptions and geopolitical tensions have pushed countries to bring some production closer to home, though digital and cultural globalisation are, if anything, accelerating.
Nozik trend tahlili.
-
Should governments protect local industries from foreign competition?
Namuna javob
Temporarily and selectively, perhaps — to give strategic or emerging industries time to develop. But permanent protectionism tends to breed inefficiency and higher prices for consumers.
Shartli pozitsiya.
