What makes you happy on an ordinary day?

Small things, mostly — a good conversation, finishing a difficult task, tea on the balcony at sunset.
Konkret.

Are you happier now than when you were a child?

Differently happy. Childhood happiness was carefree; now it’s more considered and, I think, deeper.

Exercise and writing things down — once worries are on paper, they shrink.

Describe a period in your life when you were especially happy.
You should say:
- when it was
- where you were
- what you were doing
and explain why you were so happy during that time.
Namuna javob
A period of my life when I was especially happy was the summer after I finished university, about seven years ago. For roughly three months, I was in a kind of limbo — my degree was finished, I’d accepted a job that didn’t start until September, and for the first time in my life I had no exams, no deadlines and no obligations. I spent most of that summer at my grandparents’ house in a village in the foothills near Jizzakh. My days had a simple rhythm. I woke early with the call to prayer, helped my grandfather in the orchard while it was still cool, read for hours in the afternoon heat, and in the evenings sat with the whole extended family on the tapchan — a raised wooden platform — drinking tea and talking until late. I also taught my younger cousins English, partly as a favour to my aunt and partly because I enjoyed it. Looking back, I think I was so happy for a few interconnected reasons. Firstly, there was a sense of achievement and relief after years of study, which made everything feel well-earned. Secondly, there was the freedom from screens; the internet connection was terrible, so I was genuinely present. But most importantly, I was surrounded by people I loved, with time to actually be with them. I didn’t realise at the time how rare that combination would become once I started working. That summer has become something of a reference point for me — whenever I feel overwhelmed, I remind myself that what made me happiest then cost almost nothing.

3-qism: Muhokama
Band 7–8 uchun Part 3 da mavhum g‘oyalarni muhokama qilish, taxmin qilish, taqqoslash va nozik pozitsiya bildirish kutiladi.
-
Should governments measure happiness rather than just economic growth?
Namuna javob
I think it’s a valuable complement. GDP measures output, not quality of life, so including well-being indicators — like health, social trust and free time — gives a fuller picture of whether policies actually improve people’s lives.
Pozitsiya + asos.
-
Why do some wealthy countries have high rates of depression?
Namuna javob
Possibly because wealth often comes with longer working hours, social isolation and intense competition. Material comfort doesn’t automatically provide community or purpose.
Paradoks tahlili.
-
Is happiness a choice?
Namuna javob
Partly. Our habits and how we interpret events influence our well-being. But it would be unfair to suggest that people struggling with poverty or mental illness simply aren’t choosing happiness.
Nozik va adolatli.
-
Has the stigma around mental health decreased?
Namuna javob
Significantly, especially among younger people, who talk openly about therapy. But in more traditional communities, there is still considerable reluctance to seek help.
Farqlangan javob.
