Practice makes perfect always.
Deliberate, targeted practice is what drives improvement.

Talent is not important.
Talent affects the pace of progress, but effort determines the ceiling.

-
Is there something you’re naturally good at?
Namuna javob
Languages, apparently — though I suspect it’s mostly that I enjoy them, so I practise more.
Nozik.
-
Have you ever given up on learning something?
Namuna javob
The guitar, twice. Both times I quit at the stage where fingers hurt and progress stalls.
Halol.
-
Do you admire people who work hard or people who are talented?
Namuna javob
Hard work, because it’s a choice; talent is luck.
Pozitsiya.
-
Were you encouraged to develop your talents as a child?

Describe a skill you developed through a lot of practice.
You should say:
- what the skill is
- when you started
- how you practised
and explain whether you think talent or effort was more important.
Namuna javob
A skill I developed almost entirely through persistent practice is public speaking. As a teenager, I was painfully shy; I remember my hands shaking so badly during a class presentation at fifteen that I couldn’t read my notes. At university, I realised that this fear would seriously limit my career, so I made a deliberate decision to confront it. I started small. I joined a debating society, where for the first few months I volunteered only for short, minor roles. I recorded myself practising speeches at home, which was excruciating to watch, but it showed me habits I couldn’t see — saying “um” constantly, avoiding eye contact, speaking far too fast. I then worked on one habit at a time. Later, I began volunteering to present at work, and eventually I started giving talks at small industry events. It took around six years before I felt genuinely comfortable. Now I regularly speak to audiences of a hundred or more, and people sometimes tell me I’m a “natural”, which I find quite amusing. As for talent versus effort, in my case effort was clearly decisive, since I started with no apparent aptitude at all. That said, I wouldn’t dismiss talent completely; some people clearly pick up certain skills faster. But I think talent mostly determines the speed of progress, while effort determines how far you ultimately go. And crucially, effort only works when it’s deliberate — targeted at specific weaknesses, with honest feedback — rather than simply repeating the same thing.
Boshlang‘ich zaiflik → ongli qaror → bosqichma-bosqich mashq (aniq usullar) → natija (ironiya: “natural”) → nozik tahlil: iqtidor tezlik, mehnat masofa.
3-qism: Muhokama
Band 7–8 uchun Part 3 da mavhum g‘oyalarni muhokama qilish, taxmin qilish, taqqoslash va nozik pozitsiya bildirish kutiladi.
-
Is talent more important than hard work?
Namuna javob
I’d argue they interact. Talent may give an early advantage, but research on expertise suggests that sustained, deliberate practice is what separates the very best from the merely good.
O‘zaro ta’sir.
-
Should schools identify gifted children early?
Namuna javob
Supporting exceptional ability is important, but early labelling can be problematic — children not labelled “gifted” may lose motivation, while labelled ones may fear failure.
Ikki xavf.
-
Why do some people give up when they find something difficult?
Namuna javob
Often because they interpret difficulty as evidence of lacking ability, rather than as a normal stage of learning — what psychologists call a fixed mindset.
Psixologik atama.
-
Does society overvalue natural talent?
Namuna javob
Arguably, yes. We love stories of effortless genius, which can obscure the years of unseen work behind most achievements.
Madaniy tanqid.
