The bar chart compares the number of international students from five countries who were studying at one university in 2015 and 2025.
Overall, China was the largest source of students in 2015, but by 2025 it had been overtaken by India. Numbers grew from every country except China, with the sharpest relative increase coming from Uzbekistan.
In 2015, there were 1,100 Chinese students at the university, more than twice as many as from India (450). Nigeria and Brazil sent 220 and 150 students respectively, while only 80 came from Uzbekistan. In total, around 2,000 international students came from these five countries.
Ten years later, the number of Chinese students had fallen to 800, whereas the figure for India more than doubled to 950, making it the leading country. The number of Uzbek students rose more than fivefold to 420, overtaking Nigeria, which also grew to 380. Brazil’s figure remained almost unchanged at 160. The total rose to 2,710.
