IELTS Task 2: Animal Testing
IELTS 2-topshiriq: hayvonlarda tajriba
Some people think that it is acceptable to use animals for medical research, while others believe it is cruel and should be stopped.
Discuss both views and give your own opinion.
Write at least 250 words.
IELTS Writing Task 2 — umumiy ballning uchdan ikki qismini beradi. Savol turini aniqlang (fikr, ikki tomon, afzallik-kamchilik, muammo-yechim yoki ikki savolli) va savolning har bir qismiga javob bering. Pozitsiya kirishda ham, xulosada ham bir xil bo‘lsin.
- discuss the view that animal testing is acceptable — maqbul degan fikrni muhokama qiling
- discuss the view that it is cruel — shafqatsiz degan fikrni muhokama qiling
- give your own opinion — o‘z fikringizni bildiring
Imtihon strategiyasi
- Vaqtni bo‘ling: 5 daqiqa reja, 30 daqiqa yozish, 5 daqiqa tekshirish.
- Har bir asosiy abzas: markaziy gap → izoh → misol yoki natija.
- Savolning HAR BIR qismiga javob bering — ikki savolli topshiriqda ikkala savolga ham.
- 250 so‘zdan kam bo‘lsa ball kamaytiriladi; 270–320 so‘z eng qulay.
Namuna javob
Ikkala fikr adolatli va chuqur, o‘z pozitsiyasi aniq shartlar bilan, misol (kosmetika) bilan nozik farq ko‘rsatilgan. Namuna hajmi: 283 so‘z.

The use of animals in medical research is one of the most controversial ethical issues of our time. While some see it as a necessary step in developing life-saving treatments, others regard it as unacceptable cruelty. In my view, it can be justified only in limited circumstances and should be reduced as quickly as possible.
-
Supporters of animal testing argue that it has made an enormous contribution to human health. Many vaccines, antibiotics and surgical techniques were developed with the help of animal research, and millions of lives have been saved as a result. Before a new medicine can be given to humans, scientists need to know whether it is safe, and testing it on living organisms is often the only reliable way to discover harmful side effects. From this perspective, banning animal research would put human lives at risk.
-
Opponents, however, point out that animals can feel pain and fear, and that subjecting them to experiments is morally wrong, especially when the benefits for humans are uncertain. They also argue that animals are biologically different from people, so results do not always apply to humans. Furthermore, modern alternatives, such as computer models and tests using human cells grown in laboratories, are becoming increasingly sophisticated.
-
Personally, I believe animal testing is acceptable only for essential medical research when no alternative exists, and under strict rules that minimise suffering. Testing for cosmetics, for example, cannot be justified, and many countries have rightly banned it. At the same time, governments should invest heavily in developing alternative methods.
-
In conclusion, although animal research has saved many human lives, it raises serious moral concerns. It should therefore be strictly limited and gradually replaced by more humane methods.
