IELTS Task 2: Practical Skills at School
IELTS 2-topshiriq: maktabda amaliy ko‘nikmalar
Some people believe that schools should teach practical life skills, such as cooking, managing money and basic home repairs, instead of focusing only on academic subjects.
To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Write at least 250 words.
IELTS Writing Task 2 — umumiy ballning uchdan ikki qismini beradi. Savol turini aniqlang (fikr, ikki tomon, afzallik-kamchilik, muammo-yechim yoki ikki savolli) va savolning har bir qismiga javob bering. Pozitsiya kirishda ham, xulosada ham bir xil bo‘lsin.
- present arguments for teaching practical skills — amaliy ko‘nikmalar foydasiga dalillar keltiring
- present arguments for academic subjects — akademik fanlar foydasiga dalillar keltiring
- state clearly how far you agree — qanchalik qo‘shilishingizni ayting
Imtihon strategiyasi
- Vaqtni bo‘ling: 5 daqiqa reja, 30 daqiqa yozish, 5 daqiqa tekshirish.
- Har bir asosiy abzas: markaziy gap → izoh → misol yoki natija.
- Savolning HAR BIR qismiga javob bering — ikki savolli topshiriqda ikkala savolga ham.
- 250 so‘zdan kam bo‘lsa ball kamaytiriladi; 270–320 so‘z eng qulay.
Namuna javob
Pozitsiya aniq, qarshi fikr adolatli, integratsiya yechimi o‘ylangan va misollar bilan. Namuna hajmi: 260 so‘z.

Many young people leave school able to solve complex equations but unable to cook a simple meal or plan a monthly budget. I agree to a large extent that practical life skills should be part of the curriculum, although they should complement rather than replace academic subjects.
-
The strongest argument for teaching practical skills is that they prepare students for independent adult life. Financial literacy, for example, can help young people avoid debt, understand loans and save for the future, while basic cooking skills encourage healthier eating habits. Not all families have the time or knowledge to teach these skills at home, so schools can help to reduce inequality by ensuring that every child learns them. Practical lessons can also motivate students who struggle with traditional subjects, giving them a sense of achievement and confidence.
-
On the other hand, the school day is already full, and some educators worry that adding new subjects would reduce the time available for mathematics, science and languages. These academic subjects are essential for university entrance and for many careers, and international comparisons often focus on them. Others argue that practical skills are easy to learn later in life, whereas a strong academic foundation is difficult to build once school is over.
-
These concerns can be addressed by integrating practical skills into existing subjects. Mathematics lessons could include budgeting and interest rates, for instance, and science classes could explore nutrition through cooking.
-
In conclusion, schools should not abandon academic learning, but including practical life skills would better prepare students for the realities of adult life.
