Proposal: Improving Student Wellbeing
Introduction
The aim of this proposal is to identify the main sources of stress among students at our college and to recommend practical measures to support their wellbeing.
Current situation
According to a recent survey of 200 students, the main causes of stress are heavy workloads, exam pressure and uncertainty about future careers. Many respondents also reported that deadlines for different subjects often fall in the same week, leaving them exhausted and anxious. A significant number also mentioned that they feel uncomfortable asking teachers for help, as they fear being judged.
Recommendations
Firstly, it is recommended that a free counselling service be introduced, with trained staff available three days a week. Secondly, departments should coordinate their deadlines so that major assignments are spread more evenly across the term. Finally, the college could organise regular wellbeing workshops on topics such as time management and relaxation techniques. Students could also be given access to a quiet study room that remains open in the evenings during exam periods.
Expected benefits
These measures would enable students to seek help before problems become serious and would reduce unnecessary pressure during busy periods. In the long term, healthier and more confident students are likely to achieve better results and feel more positive about college life.
Conclusion
If these recommendations are implemented, I am confident that student wellbeing, and consequently academic performance, will improve significantly.
