IELTS Task 2: Competition or Cooperation?
IELTS 2-topshiriq: raqobat yoki hamkorlik?
Some people believe that children should be taught to be competitive, while others think they should be taught to cooperate.
Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.
Write at least 250 words.
IELTS Writing Task 2 — umumiy ballning uchdan ikki qismini beradi. Savol turini aniqlang (fikr, ikki tomon, afzallik-kamchilik, muammo-yechim yoki ikki savolli) va savolning har bir qismiga javob bering. Pozitsiya kirishda ham, xulosada ham bir xil bo‘lsin.
- discuss the view that children should learn competition — raqobat o‘rgatilishi kerak degan fikrni muhokama qiling
- discuss the view that children should learn cooperation — hamkorlik o‘rgatilishi kerak degan fikrni muhokama qiling
- give your own opinion — o‘z fikringizni bildiring
Imtihon strategiyasi
- Vaqtni bo‘ling: 5 daqiqa reja, 30 daqiqa yozish, 5 daqiqa tekshirish.
- Har bir asosiy abzas: markaziy gap → izoh → misol yoki natija.
- Savolning HAR BIR qismiga javob bering — ikki savolli topshiriqda ikkala savolga ham.
- 250 so‘zdan kam bo‘lsa ball kamaytiriladi; 270–320 so‘z eng qulay.
Namuna javob
Ikkala fikr adolatli va chuqur, o‘z pozitsiyasi sintez orqali (jamoaviy sport) — Band 8 darajasidagi nozik argumentatsiya. Namuna hajmi: 275 so‘z.

Parents and teachers often disagree about whether children should be encouraged to compete with each other or to work together. While both approaches have their merits, I believe that cooperation should be the foundation, with healthy competition introduced as a secondary skill.
-
Supporters of competition argue that it prepares children for the realities of adult life. In education, sport and the job market, people constantly compete for places, prizes and positions, so children who learn to compete early may be better equipped to succeed. Competition can also be highly motivating: the desire to win encourages children to practise harder, set goals and push themselves beyond their limits. Learning to cope with losing, moreover, builds resilience and teaches children that failure is part of improvement.
-
On the other hand, those who prioritise cooperation point out that most achievements in the modern world depend on teamwork. Scientists, engineers and business people rarely succeed alone; they must share ideas, communicate clearly and respect different opinions. Children who learn to cooperate develop empathy and strong social skills. Excessive competition, by contrast, can create anxiety, damage friendships and make children who rarely win feel worthless, which may reduce their motivation in the long term.
-
I believe children need both skills, but in the right balance. Activities such as team sports are ideal, because they combine cooperation within a team with competition against others. In this way, children learn to work together while also experiencing the challenge of trying to win.
-
In conclusion, competition can motivate children and build resilience, but cooperation is more important for success in modern society. The best approach combines the two, with cooperation as the priority.
